Your Girl addresses the climate of today's teen culture, the high calling of motherhood, and practical ways to counteract the negative influences our daughters face.
May 1 2006 2:40PMThis book is excellent! It should be required reading for christian mother.
I liked Vicki's style of writing; it is down to earth and plain talk. I like that she provides scripture to back her statements and includes questions for reflection. I picked this book up because I have an 11 year old that is showing signs that she is heading into the teen years battle, so I thought I better start preparing to win the war.

Mar 3 2005 8:06AMIt is a true blessing and a wonderful tool given to mothers everywhere
I enjoyed the down to earth approach in dealing with mother-daughter relationships. I liked the way the author exposed the reality of the world influence in our kids and our responsibility as mothers to uphold firm Christian principles in a caring but firm manner. It is indeed sad that we are the 'silent majority' and I was challenged to act, and not just stand by. I believe there needs to be a balance of love and discipline, we need to be firm on moral principles but balanced and loving on how to do it. We need to set up 'non-negotiable' standards for our daughters, and be reasonable with everything else. We need to learn to pick our battles, and be very wise and discerning on our daily relationship with them. I appreciated how the author emphasizes our responsibility as mothers and helps us to put it on perspective. Our daughters needs us more as moms than as only friends. My daugther is the one who found this book for me. I want to be careful on how to raise her and how to imprint God's principles in her heart so they can be a part of her life. This books gave me a lot of insights on how to do that. I trust many mothers read it and put it into practice. I loved the sixth chapter on how to raise daughters who say "I don't" until they say "I do". That's my prayer. We need more Christian women who will take to heart their responsibility as mothers and be Christlike in everything they do. It is sad that some moms fall under their kids' peer presure and are unable to uphold God's principles. We need to raise the standard in our own lives in order to pass it on to our daughters, allowing them to see the real us, with all our imperfections but with an earnest desire to follow after God's heart. I loved the balanced approach used by the author. She gave us facts and realistic ways to implement in raising our daughters in a godly manner in an ungodly world. I have been sharing portions of this book with my family and friends, and want to start a group with other mothers in our church. Thank you for a grounded Christian perspective on this, we needed it.

Feb 24 2005 12:17AMAbsolutely a must read! This book tells the truth and then some.
I liked the fact that Vicki was extremely honest and real. Although Godly inspired, this book speaks to everyone that is a mother about raising a daughter to be 'in' this world, but not 'of' this world.

Aug 12 2004 8:46AMThis book is an answer to prayer. I pray it become a best seller!
Vicki Courtney tells it like it is in a way that will be accepted by young women and mothers alike. She left nothing out! I pray this book starts a revolution in our nation. I hope to start a small group discussion with mothers of teenage daughters in our church using it. I can relate with Vicki's longing for the past (old magazine issues compared to today's for young girls. I grew up in the '50's and have an adopted 13 year old daughter who so wants to be popular at any cost. This book will help her prioritize what she truly wants for herself. It faces the reality of the world's pressures from a Christian viewpoint without being "preachy". It points out what an awesome responsibility we have to do the right thing in a caring, loving way through Christ. There is an answer for every situation she may face in this dark world. Thank you, Vicki Courtney. My prayer is that this book will revolutionize our nation. God bless you for putting MY words and thougts down on paperwhen I didn't have the gift to do so! You are a true warrior for Christ!
