Author : Diana Davis

Fresh Ideas for Women’s Ministry compiles Diana Davis' enthusiastic knowledge of church organization to help others with creating and sustaining a vibrant, outward-focused ladies’ program. Part resource book, part planning tool, it all adds up to a proven plan that joyfully blends discipleship, missions, fellowship, and special events with an emphasis upon hands-on ministry.

Picture this: women of all ages arriving in droves to the church building, excited that their weekly ministry together is about to begin. Syndicated columnist and pastor’s wife Diana Davis knows this can happen wherever the women’s ministry program is purposeful, of top quality, and fresh.

Jun 22 2008 6:42PM  Looking for ideas to freshen up your church''s women''s ministry?
If you enjoy women’s ministry, you’re going to love this book!

What was your motivation behind this project?

I’ve led a growing and vibrant church women’s ministry for many years, and I’ve got great news for you: Women’s ministry works! This book shares the story of how to begin and grow a vibrant women’s ministry to fit your own unique church.
An upward-and-outward-focused women’s program can build Christian friendships, help women grow as a Christian, ignite a missions fire, impact your church’s growth, and enhance your church’s reputation and ministry throughout your community.
Whether your church is large or small, you’ll find ideas to help organize, publicize and strategize. You’ll enjoy the challenge to create purposeful events, plan a grandiose kickoff and do an annual marathon planning meeting. You’ll learn tips for fellowship and ministry teams and classes for Christian growth. You’ll be reminded of the excitement of missions and community ministry.
The reader is encouraged to create a purposeful women’s ministry to fit her own unique ministry and mission field.
My motivation behind this project is to encourage women''s ministry leaders to "bump it up a notch" and challenge women to a higher level of serving Him.

What do you hope folks will gain from this project?

I''m praying that you will be inspired to begin or improve a women''s ministry in your church. And that it will provide opportunities for women to serve others in Christ''s name, to grow as Christians and as friends, and to impact their families, community and world for Him. Using our church''s women''s ministry as an example, the book challenges churches to create a WM that fits their own unique church. You''ll find lots of idea-starters and testimonies. I''ve shared short stories and charts and lists.
So here’s my challenge to you, dear friend: Read every word of the book, select the portions that fit your church, and do it! Don’t just study about women’s ministry or dabble in it or dream about it. Forget the "sit and soak" mentality of yesteryear. Create a life-changing, family-changing, church-changing, world-changing women''s ministry. Entice professional women and mommies and grannies and singles to attend. Make every minute worthwhile and purposeful. And don’t leave “ministry” out of women’s ministry. Seek God’s direction and begin or improve your church’s women’s ministry this year.

Tell us a little about yourself.

I''m a Christian woman who''s seen our great God do amazing things! As the wife and mother of three adult children, I''ve seen the difference God can make in a family. As a pastor’s wife for over three decades, I know the priceless value of God’s bride, the church, and the potential for impacting our world for Christ. As the wife of the Indiana Baptist Convention''s executive director, I have great opportunities to see God at work through our denomination and in churches across our state. As I''ve traveled across the world (last month to Cuba), I''ve seen God at work through His churches and His people everywhere.
I love encouraging Christians to love Him and serve Him more. I write for numerous Christian publications, and my first book, Fresh Ideas--1000 Ways to Grow a Thriving and Energetic Church (B&H ''07) is in its third printing.
I’m a Fort Worth native, and I accepted Jesus as my personal savior as a girl. My college degree is from Dallas Baptist University, and I am working toward a Master of Theological Studies degree from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary. My husband, Steve, and I served as pastor and wife in a new church plant and in a small, medium and large church.

The book is well layed out and gives every detail for beginning a women's ministry. The guidelines she gives are well planned, detailed and easy to follow.
