Jun 18 2009 2:18PM This is probably the best hand held reference Bible on the market.
Forty years my old Oxford Bible has accompanied me and it has retired because of age. I came across the Apologetics study Bible and purchased the leather bound indexed book. This Bible after being used for several months continues to smell like leather. It appears to have a sewn binding. It hangs over the palm in a comfortable manner when teaching or preaching. The pages are well laid out but can because of the blue and grays are "busy" artistically to old eyes. It examines issues honestly presenting both sides in a manner very useful for teaching or simply answering questions for the Hope that is within a Believer. One might examine the introduction to Daniel while browsing as an example. It looks at scientific issues and helps one study through them. The notes in the text speak to how do we answer questions regarding the cults like the Witnesses or "Your Friends the Mormons." There are running notes at the bottom of each page which are more than helpful in their presentation. The book contains a list of contributors which is a "who's Who' in both the SBC family and wider Evangelical Community. Even the most conservative reader or student will appreciate the quantity of the comments in this bible. I would recommend this volume to anyone. The longer I use it the more I like the Apologetics Study Bible.
